study music with mark

music instruction, personalized

Let’s say you’ve got the car, a full tank of gas, and a cup of coffee. You’re ready to roll… somewhere… but where do you want to go? Even if you’ve got a destination in mind, a good teacher is like the navigation that gets you there in one piece and with minimal frustration! If you’re not sure where to go, well, we’ve all been there! I’m here to help develop a journey that’s totally your own, from the finer points of practicing and technique; to improving musical feel and playing well with others; to developing your voice as a musician and artist.

Stuck at home a lot more than usual? That’s the reality right now for many of us. Luckily, we can use some of that time to further ourselves as artists and take our music practice to the next level. And, between lessons, the digital resources I provide will help make the most of what a remote collaboration has to offer.

have goals?
I can help!

Are you … starting a band? … getting into walking bass lines? … navigating chord changes? … wanting to record and collaborate with others at home or … someday … in person?
I have the experience to help! As a professional bassist with many years of freelancing and touring under my belt, I worked hard to be proficient in a wide range of styles: from classical and jazz to Brazilian and Broadway. I hold degrees in bass and jazz performance from Western Michigan University and the Peabody Institute. I try to live by the same ideals I teach: seeking growth and expansion as a musician and individual.
